How it works

1

Create a free account

Sign up with your email — no credit card required. Your free account includes 60 minutes of transcription every month, which resets at the start of each billing period.

2

Upload a file or record directly

You have three options:

  • Upload a file — drag and drop any audio or video file from your computer or phone
  • Record in the browser — click record and speak directly into your microphone
  • iOS app — record on your iPhone and upload from the app
3

Wait for transcription

NoteMate processes your recording in the background using OpenAI Whisper. Most recordings finish in 2–5 minutes. You'll see the transcript appear live as segments are completed — no need to wait for the full file to finish.

4

Get your summary

Once the transcript is ready, choose a summary format: meeting notes, action items, interview summary, lecture outline, standup report, or brainstorm capture. Your AI summary is generated in seconds and saved alongside the transcript.

Tips for the best results

  • Record in a quiet space. Background noise degrades accuracy more than anything else. A quiet room makes a significant difference.
  • Keep the microphone close. For in-person recordings, a phone mic placed centrally on the table works well. Avoid recording from across a large room.
  • One speaker at a time. Speaker identification works best when people don't talk over each other. Overlapping speech can cause segments to be mis-attributed.
  • Name speakers early. After transcription, rename Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc. to real names straight away. It makes your summary much more useful.

Frequently asked questions

Most recordings are transcribed in a fraction of their actual running time. A 60-minute meeting typically takes 2–5 minutes, depending on audio quality and current load.

NoteMate accepts files up to 500MB. For longer recordings, the audio is automatically split and processed in segments, then stitched back together seamlessly.

NoteMate supports over 50 languages through OpenAI Whisper, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, and many more.

Yes. Upload any audio or video file of your call. Phone call audio quality is typically lower than in-person or video recordings, but Whisper handles it well for most calls.
