How NoteMate compares

Straight comparisons with the apps students ask us about, including where the other app is the better choice. Competitor details are checked against their own websites and app listings.

NoteMate vs Otter.ai

Otter is built for work meetings and joins Zoom, Teams and Meet. NoteMate is built for lectures and adds flashcards and quizzes.

NoteMate vs Coconote

Both make notes, flashcards and quizzes. Coconote takes PDFs and links too; NoteMate labels speakers and publishes its price.

NoteMate vs Turbo AI

Formerly TurboLearn. Covers YouTube and PDFs; NoteMate publishes its free allowance and charges once for the academic year.

NoteMate vs Knowt

A flashcard app with a big shared library. NoteMate builds the cards from your own lectures, with no ads.

NoteMate vs Fathom

Fathom joins video calls as a bot. NoteMate records in the room, so it works for in-person lectures.

What NoteMate is for

NoteMate records your lectures and seminars, writes structured notes, and turns them into flashcards and a practice quiz. Every card links back to the moment in the recording it came from, and the transcript shows who said what.

It does not make notes from PDFs, slides or YouTube videos. If most of your revision starts from reading rather than lectures, one of the apps above may suit you better.
